Meet our Directors

The LEAP Institute’s Board of Directors comprises a diverse group of experienced professionals dedicated to empowering communities through education, innovation, and opportunity. Their strategic leadership and commitment to excellence drive the institute’s vision and together, they provide guidance, oversight, and support to ensure the LEAP Institute continues to inspire and impact lives.

Zonke Ngidi, a LEAP Science and Maths Schools graduate, holds a Bachelor of Education and Honours in Education.Zonke’s experience includes leadership roles with the African Community Fund for Education, Global Teachers Institute and as a member of the Executive Committee of the LEAP Institute.
John Gilmour is the visionary founder of LEAP Science and Maths Schools and a member of the Executive Committee at the LEAP Institute. As an Ashoka Fellow and a member of the International Club of Rome, John champions the improvement of educational and wellness outcomes for children.
Asanda Tsengiwe is a proud graduate of the LEAP Science and Maths Schools. He has a B.Com Financial Accounting Degree from the University of Cape Town and has served as an assistant manager at the Auditor-General of South Africa since 2017
Joe Kainja is a financial expert and the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Jophi Capital with over 25 years of experience. Joe is a holder of a BSc in Mathematical Sciences (Super Cum Laude) and an MSc in Statistics. He is also a prolific contributor to financial research and has chaired the Board of LEAP Science and Maths Schools since 2005.
Roy Fine brings over 35 years of business experience across various sectors, both locally and internationally. He co-founded Growth Grid Venture Capital Partners (Pty) Ltd, a VC fund backing early-stage entrepreneurs. Roy has built and led multiple businesses throughout his career. He actively mentors and supports entrepreneurs through his extensive network. His focus remains on empowering innovation and sustainable growth.
